this is going to be a bit of a picture heavy post because I’m combining a Look of the Day post with a “OMG look at the docs I got for twenty quid a pop!” post. Remember when I wrote about that Boxing Day sale here? I trekked down to the Convent Garden store with my brother and managed to snag the pink ones, and picked up the gorgeous green pair at the branch in Spitalfields the day after. As much as I love the colour of the pink ones, they’re just a bit too pink for me, so I’ll be spray-painting them with the help of a stencil in the not so distant future (along with my wellies).

and I really enjoy how I have the matching skills of a toddler. Clashing prints 4 lyf.

Jacket: £14.99 from a charity shop

Top: bday gift from an awesome friend (poke around in the Harry Potter section on Threadless)

Cardigan: £14.99 from H&M

Skirt: £12.99 from H&M

Tights: about two or three quid, Tesco

Earrings: a gift from my mum (bu they’re those weirdly wonderful 99p earrings you get in chemists)

Shoes: £20, Dr Martens store (Help for Heroes sale)

I really wish I’d taken photos of this skirt when it used to be a pair of culottes. It was my mum’s in the 80s, so I cut the inseam and stitched up into a maxi skirt.

(That’s not me making a reference - OK, well it is a bit - but this used to be my mum’s. If you live in England and your mum was an adult/young woman in the Eighties, ask her about the shop “Richards”.)

It’s pretty much perfect in all seasons; light enough to wear now, long enough to wear in winter (with tights).

this is apparently what one wears to sit in a field, eat pizza and read books.

T-Shirt - gift (I know they’re sold at HMV though)

Shorts - New Look, £9

Converse - 4 Feet, £34.99

This is what I wore on my travels to Brixton, a trip that proved to be much less fruitful than I’d hoped it would be.

Ah, well. Thank the deities we have email these days.

Blazer - £5, Camden Market

Dress - £12, Primark

Creepers - £35, Portobello Road

Ring - £10, Portobello Road

Earrings - forgotten how much, Fairtrade

After waking up at an obscenely late hour and then going for a rather undignified run through my local forest, I decided to wear this dress again and give myself a reason to perk up, even if the weather wouldn’t.

I actually bought the dress for a fiver at East Street Market, and the necklace was a gift from my parents. You really should get yourself down to East Street Market if you ever get the chance; there’s some real gems hidden there.

I used to feel really self-conscious about my legs; I always thought that I was too knock-kneed and too thunder-thighed to wear shorts and mini-skirts. But then I hit 17 and something just clicked in my head, and I stopped giving a fuck, hence the fact that my hemlines now mostly skim my upper thighs.

That’s not to say I don’t dress for my shape, but I’ve since learned that clothes are 50% what you wear and 50% how you wear it. Walk through the world like you own it and no-one will question your style. And I will stop now before I start sounding any more like Tyra Banks.

P.S. It’s really stupid to wear black when it’s hot as dragon balls. Guess I’m really stupid.

P.P.S. I used to think that “thunder thighs” was a compliment, so I was kinda upset when I found out that it wasn’t. True story, bro.
